Yelp did a ranking of the top mid-sized music venues across the U.S. and based the list on the number of reviews and overall star rating. Texas came out with 6 venues in the top-50 with Skylark Lounge in Austin taking the No. 1 spot.
- The Skylark is known for old-school Texas music and good pizza. One of the lounge’s admirers had this to say,” “One of my favorite live music venues in Austin. It is dark, dingy, and divey. Love the atmosphere. The seating is limited and the stage small which makes for a very intimate setting.” – Christopher S.
Congrats to East Austin's @skylarkaustin club on being named the No. 1 music venue in the nation via @Yelp! Several other great Texas venues made the "best of" list too, including: @kesslertheater at No. 11, @cactuscafeatx at No. 27, @gruenehall at No. 38, @granadatheater at No. 42, and @thelittlelonghornsaloon at No. 50. #texasmusic #music #texas #venues #musicvenue #listeningroom

- The venue taking the second spot, Union Transfer, is located in Philadelphia. It is an independently owned and operated music venue and the building originally opened in 1889. There is a lot of history here and the music exceeds expectations.

- Third place goes to B.L.U.E.S. in Chicago. “It offers the assurance of good music in a friendly, intimate environment. Whether you are an invested blues aficionado, or just a blues browser, you’ll enjoy B.L.U.E.S. A trip here is a no-risk venture into some reliably good music. B.L.U.E.S. features primarily local artists like Lil Ed, John Primer, Eddie Shaw, Vance “Guitar” Kelly and Pistol Pete. The atmosphere is friendly and intimate. Stretching along its right side is a long bar, and along its left side a riser for overflow seating.”
