The next big thing is here, and she’s from Fort Worth, Texas. Her name is Pennie Painter and at only 20, she’s collaborated with multi-platinum producer Troy “R8Dio” Johnson (J. Lo. Tupac), Gold Producer Rickey “Slikk” Offord (Ariana Grande) and Matt Noveskey (Blue October). She was recently signed on as a brand ambassador for Lamborghini and has up and coming projects all the way over in China. So what makes Ms. Painter such a promising young artist?
“I was in my house just singing and someone heard me singing, and was working their hardest to convince my mom to get me in a studio, at the age of 7”
–Pennie Painter, featured artist on the cover of the March DStyle magazine issue.
Pennie Painter was only 7 years old when she started developing her craft and over the course of 12 years, she’s drawn inspiration from Maroon 5, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. Her latest track “Around” could be described as ambient, intense, and elegant. Pennie’s hundreds of live performances include Radio Disney, State Fairs, National Cheerleading events, benefits for charities, Easter Seals, United Way and American Heart Association. Pennie’s collaboration with Matt Noveskey from Blue October has managed to draw interest from national record companies, and she’s not even old enough to drink. “When i was 17, that’s when i hit it hard and decided for myself, this is what I’m doing with all my time.”
For Pennie Painter and millions of other aspiring artists, devoting yourself to a career that has little to no chance of success, it’s vital to immerse oneself into the art of music. “I channel a lot of frustration and turmoil in life into my music, that’s really my biggest outlet.” For 12 years, Pennie Painter has been working on developing her vocals, and more importantly, her songwriting. This distinguishes artists from all the others in today’s industry. Success often finds those who have a feeling, and share it. Having something to say, can change the life of a young teen, overnight
It kills to be a workaholic. Having goals and meeting deadlines can be fun! Creating art, writing music, exposing oneself to possibly millions of people, is special. Pennie Painter is on a train that’s impossible to stay on, and is managing to find great success at the very beginning of her journey. It’s exciting to assume that she has what it takes, to become a star. “Having a supportive mom makes it easier to believe in yourself.”
